Who is eligible?
The Facility is aimed at users in
New York State whose institutions are members
of the AMDeC consortium. This includes most major
universities and medical centers in the state. We
hope to develop a central contact at each institution
to provide local assistance and screening of projects.
Please send inquiries about using
the facility to Paul Glick (pg2142@columbia.edu).
What can you do?
Getting Started
The various sections of this website
attempt to provide all information needed to use this
facility.
- Access
provides instructions for reaching facility machines
via ssh, ftp, sftp, and the web.
- Hardware
provides links to operating instructions for the GeneMatcher2,
BlastMachine,
Cluster and other platforms.
- Software
describes the various packages we support, e.g. Paracel's
GenomeAssembler and TranscriptAssembler.
- Databases
describes the sequence databases we support and how
to access them from the various hardware platforms.
-
Databases on the GeneMatcher2 provides details
and policies on how databases are maintained on the
GeneMatcher2, and how to load your own database.
- Examples
illustrates commands to perform some typical computations.
Changing your password
You must change your password in
two places:
First, from any UNIX/Linux host
use the yppasswd command to change your password
on all of the login host machines. They all share
the same NIS security system.
Second, start the BioviewWorkbench
web interface to the GeneMatcher2. From the User Accounts
page, you can change your web password.
The Compute Environment
The Linux and Solaris login hosts
share a common fileserver and user home directories.
Thus whichever machine you log in on, you will be
in the same home directory.
